Holiday week

Pretty productive week in FFXI... mostly exp though. Got MNK and SAM both half way through AF levels (50s). I blame Ascii, I originally just planned to exp those jobs on Friday and Sunday static parties, but I ended getting a lot more exp than that... so much that I skipped Friday since I needed a little breather.

Both jobs at this point are pretty fun... as I like playing DD and being 50+, I have access to some fun toys. For MNK, its Retaliators which is the best MNK weapon from 50-70. That's 20 levels I don't need to worry about a new weapon. SAM gets Soboro, which is awesome for tp burn parties, as I get tp like crazy... though during exp I couldn't break the 200 dmg mark with Soboro ; ; It's pretty weak, so I'm leaning toward an attack and STR build, and pass on haste and accuracy pieces.

I might start focusing more on MNK from here on out, as it's a little easier to 2box. Basically, MNK just engages and just punches away, activating berserk, dodge, and focus when necessary. At 100% tp, Raging Fists. Rinse and repeat. Putting out 400-600 Raging Fists is pretty cool =D.

SAM is still doable 2boxing, but requires me to pay attention to it more. With Soboro, I constantly have to monitor my TP and use it ASAP to maximize my damage output. I also have to switch between Seigan and Hasso when appropriate, and Meditate whenever that is up. It's a little bit more micro management with SAM X.x I'm still able to pull it off, but I want to relax a bit 2boxing!!! D:

SAM 57, MNK 56 (I want them both to 75 D:). MNK AF complete and SAM AF 2/5

Things should be interesting now... I just bought Fallout 3 and CoD5 and I'm forseeing myself spending more time on PS3 again. I really enjoyed CoD4 and so far CoD5 online play is very similar to CoD4, just in WWII setting. It's a welcome change of pace to FFXI, since I get to get back into the competitive mode.

Another week D:

So this past week I finally made it to Friday experience party. Went with MNK, and got it from 44-47. We leveled off of spiders, beetles, and anticans in Quicksands... and I ended up dying a couple times. With berserk and counterstance active, I have like 30 or so defense, not very sickle slash friendly at all D:

On Sunday, it was a pure AP experience party. At this point, it's been me, Fuu, and Ascii that have been the core of the Sunday SPT, and we end up picking up whomever else wants to exp. No one else so far has consistently made Sunday parties... oh well, that's ok. Filling out half the party isn't that bad.

I once again brought out MNK and got it to 51. Since Kura joined us, and he was 41, we synched down and went back to Crawler's Nest. I generally like exp'ing in CN since there's mobs just about any level there so as you level up you can pick new mobs to fight without changing zones, and they're pretty easy here. MNK 50+ means Retaliators!!! =D (Rare/EX of Cross Counters)

Sadly the continued use of level synch has now made my MNK about 15 levels behind in H2H skills. So I think I'll bust out SAM next time so ppl will have to sync down to MY level for once!!! Muwahahaha!!! This will help me keep my SAM skills up to date as I catch up to MNK... and then I have a Soboro to look forward too =D~

So camp ideas for next time:
47+ Quicksands or Garlaige.
If it's MNK at 51+, maybe Kuftal

Static Party

So this week I missed out on Friday's party. That's twice now and maybe even 3 times next Friday D: depending what my friend's plans are that weekend. He's coming into town that weekend and he wants to hang out sometime so if it's that Friday, then no SPT again...

I did make Sunday though, and we had a solid 4+ hours of exp, which resulted in 5-6 levels for everyone =D This time I brought my SAM for exp and passed up my MNK in levels! 42 -> 47! Only bad thing is we level synced a few levels down and my GKatana skills are not capped anymore, and are about 3 exp levels behind :(

So it seems the main static members at this point are Fuuji, Ascule, and Me. Dexinie was going to join then got bumrushed with RL stuff. So I grabbed a seeking DRG, and WAR and Zu on RNG and the party was complete. After a few fights the WAR had to leave and Nano happend to get on so we grabbed him.

Next week I'll probably pull out the MNK again, since he's 44 and closer to Ascii in levels, so no problem with capping skill there. We can do 44-48 or so next week. Should have a few choices for camps. Based on wiki
  • 45-46 Yhoator Jungle (3rd tier Goblins) - Should be easy since they dont have any annoying buffs, and are usually pretty squishy... but only good for 2 levels? D:
  • 45-47 Quicksand Caves: East Altepa Side (Sand Spider/Helm Beetle) - Decent alternative, though AoE slow from spiders is annoying, and it overwrites haste! D:
  • 45-48 Crawler's Nest (Rumble Crawler) - Maybe not CN since there aren't that many rumble crawlers around to keep the exp flowing
  • 43-46 Labyrinth of Onzozo (Cockatrice) - I'd probably rule out LoO since no whm = no stona and possibly rule out CN since there aren't that many rumble crawlers around
I'll probably look into a camp somewhere in the past to try something new. We'll see...

Same time next week, 12 Noon PST!

Static Parties

So while my FFXI is updating (why is it taking so long!!!!???? My other PC finished updating before my main! wtf!) I'm gonna mention planned SPTs. As of now I have two SPTs, one on Friday night, and one Sunday Morning/Afternoon.

The plan for Friday parties is that it will be sort of a dynamic SPT, meaning there're no set jobs for anyone. Bring whatever job you want to play around with and we'll go from there. In my mind I'm seeing this as a lowbie leveling night because a lowbie party can easily get away with an unbalanced party. If people are settled on a jobs and want to get serious, then we'll have to start planning it out more and balance out the party.

The plan for Sunday is Me and Fuu want to get some consistent leveling done. The idea spawned from this past Sunday when I wanted to just do some random leveling and Fuu asked if it was static. I said 'sure' and so a SPT was born. For this one, target job levels are in the lower 40s, as I want to keep up to date with my skilling. Fuu is set on DRK (42) and I'll bounce around between SAM (40) and MNK (44) until one of the jobs falls too far behind to worry about. On the grand scheme of things, both are DDs so it doesn't really matter. Anyone else is welcome to join Sundays, about Noon or so.

Any spots that aren't filled by ppl I know, will be filled by whoever I can find lfp at go time. I'm providing PL with Ark for now... I just hope ppl don't take advantage of this and slack too much.

Sun: (Noon+)

Friday: I was unable to make last Friday (was supposed to be our first SPT)... so I dunno who showed up and how things went. Maybe there was more than 6 ppl and I'm no longer in that SPT :( oh well.

Sunday: Started with Fuu and Me and then Teia got done with helping someone and joined as DNC. I grabbed two random SAMs and as we started to head out Nanopy popped. I asked if he wanted to come and joined us for some Crawler's Nest action. We started at 39 Level Sync and ended up at 42. One by one the SAMs left and I ended getting Dexi to join us for a bit. Nothing terribly interesting happend... just lots of exp off of worms and flies. At the end of the party, it seemed Nano was up to keeping with the SPT schedule. He was able to ding to 50 though, so if he'll have to settle for more syncing (and no skilling up).

Welcome to blogging! Sadness... D:

So I've finally caved in and started my own blog. It seems that's what all the cool kids are doing nowadays so I thought I'd pretend to be one of them.

The main reason I started this is to keep track on all things FFXI, such as events, plans, rants, whatever. Up until now I've kept track of misc stuff using Post It notes, and I need to cut down on that so I don't clutter my desk with notes! D:

One last note, I am going to list a 'Tune of the Moment' every so often. This will be a song that has caught my attention lately and will stay in place until I find a new 'Tune of the Moment'. Good chance it'll be some trance track from the weekly A State of Trance episode.
